For this assignment, I was given the task of redesigning the vinyl record sleeve for the Flying Lotus album, ‘Until The Quiet Comes’. Flying Lotus is known for his experimental structure of production and his fusion of electronic music and jazz. While his musicial style often varies greatly from track to track, his work is often described as fun, weird, mesmerizing, funky, lively, and crazy.

With this in mind, I chose to fuse design elements from both the Jazz and Electronic vernacular. I decided to create a typeface that represented the electronic side (taking cues from circuitry) and made more of the visuals representative of the Jazz side (free flowing, geometric, and punchy). The result was a fun and experimental language that translated to the back cover and the supporting collateral.
