Flip the Script

Flip the Script

Flip the Script is an initiative which looks at changing the way people accept what's expected of them in life or their careers. I thought the logos I created should reflect a sense of change, movement or deliberate unnerving. As usual I started by sketching on the bus to work.
I started by looking at the many different types of Fs there are following by envisioning 'scripts'.
Next I looked at some simple typographic things to express the 'flipping' or 'backwards'
This is the cheerleader concept inspired by seeing cheerleaders flip during a 4th of July parade.
This concept deliberately looks like the viewer could flip it - like a sticker. The reversed F helps nudge the viewer's eye into wanting to reach out and flip it in reality.
My next inspiration came those older train station or airport departure boards - you can see the panels flipping down creating a dramatic tension in the eye.
And of course scripts are made of dialogue so that was the next place to go...
And of course flipping the script means doing something different with 'the rules'.
This one has a 3D 'F' that looks like a signpost as it flips or spins in order to change direction.
Flipping the script is all about the different directions your life can go in so I did an arrows concept.
And of course a more whimsical version of flipping using Envelope Distort in Illustrator.
This concept shows the breaking out of confinement by the 'F' - a metaphor for what Flip the Script does.
This one reflects the changing direction inherent with what Flip the Script intends to do.
