During my time spent at the residency i found myself almost listing everything, from sounds, sights to smells. However it became difficult to ignore the overwhelming smell of piss that lingered around the bottom floor carpark which lay sprinkled in a fine layer of distributed trash. This became something that i found important to document, inspired by an artists talk from Prem Sahib, his series of Piss portraits are created by a time consuming collection of tiny droplets of resin on a metallic surface. Working with my own and found materials I began to recreate my own version. Swopping the resin for latex and the metallic surface for a sheet of acetate that could represent a window pain.

With a collection of offcuts I started to construct a frame which would allow me to come off the wall and experiment with composition like Rauschenberg and his attention to combine materials.
My childish approach to making art allows me to comment on the disadvantage of the division of classes in a innocent manner while also making the connection to the naivety of growing up in a similar surrounding. Coming form a working class family my series of works ‘too poor for art school’ became the main drive to these found object sculptures.

Experimenting with the off cuts from different workshops I began to manipulate my findings in relation to the context. Sharp ridged collections of wood representing my take on the estate as a dystopian prison yet contrasting with the idea of resembling a fun house, the work shifts between child’s play and horror.
