In spring 2015, I traveled to Poland and Germany with my classmates, professors Jan Kubasiewicz and Elizabeth Resnick. The seventeen-day trip immersed me in both the art and culture of these two countries. We visited museums, studios and explored public art, including posters and sculpture. Our group wanted to see Berlin from a hot air balloon, but we did not get to take a ride due to the weather. This experience inspired me to create an interactive guest comment installation using balloons. When the balloon touches the ceiling, it trigger an image or video I took during my trip for the audience to experience what I have learned and felt during the journey.

This experiment encouraged me to explore more ways of using physical interfaces and discouraged me from using screen based interfaces. If I had a chance to visit Poland and Germany again, I would show the balloon installation in the places that inspired it. This would allow me to integrate my own voice and dialogue with their culture and show that they are appreciated by a future generation, even in a distant time and place.
