Conflict Resolution
Instructional video
Given one week and a folder full of video clips, I was tasked with creating an instructional video about conflict resolution. This video demonstrates my ability to evaluate and synthesize assets to communicate a specific learning target.
After researching the topic of conflict resolution, I drafted a script based on the American Management Association's Five Steps of Conflict Resolution.
I applied storytelling techniques to engage learners. I recorded the narration in GarageBand, exported the audio file, and continued editing the video in iMovie.
Storytelling enhances the effectiveness of instruction. A good intro provides a rationale, giving learners a reason to watch. A good intro also provides an opportunity for learners to see connections between their personal lives and the instructional content.
The idea for my conflict resolution intro was inspired by an online job application I filled out years ago for a temporary employment agency. Apparently, this company had issues with employees' inability to resolve conflict without violence. The majority of questions were geared towards one's history of violence in the workplace.
