Anne Frank Typographic Experience
Anne Frank, a young girl who was a Jewish victim of the Holocaust who become widely known after her death as she kept diaries while hiding with her family during the German takeover of the Netherlands in WW2.
This project takes extracts from 'The Diary of a Young Girl' and translates the event into a typographic experience. Each piece is dedicated to one of the eight characters that were hiding in the Secret Annex with Anne. It shows lines from the book from different days and how she felt about each character and their descriptions. This included her descriptive writing on how she feels about herself, the Anne that the family knew and the real Anne that no one knew she was; the Anne who was scared and vulnerable. The black fabric the words are printed on symbolises the entrapment they lived through for a year and a half. Their house windows were covered with black material so they weren't seen from the outside.
A1 fabric installations; Poly Twill 200gsm.
