It is often argued that Christianity is irrelevant in our modern society. However I believe that we need Christianity and can utilize old religious ideals in our society. Throughout art history we see The Virgin Mary updated to fit the artist and patrons' time period. By utilizing current motifs and styles, artists have often attempted to make old religious themes current, and seem more relevant. This trend seems to disappear after the Renaissance.

These photographs are trying to bring back the idea of adaptation, to enhance Christian worship by giving people another way of expressing their devotion. I'm allowing more people to relate to Mary in our modern world, to possibly see how they can let such symbolic figures influence them for the better.

I believe that Christian religion is not outdated, it is even more relevant now. You can live holistically, by keeping things basic (religion), while enhancing your life with modern conveniences and culture. These images are doing just that; a Christian motif reinterpreted by modern culture. These photographs are a new, current, representation of Mary.

I hope to inspire those who have lost sight of religion in our modern culture, and realize the relevancy of adhering to the core Christian values that have been taught for thousands of years.
