A new spine to central Malmö, Sweden

This study focused on improving and redefining a series of spaces along one of the key routes to access the city centre of Malmö.
Connecting a series of squares, pedestrian streets and canal front areas, all these proposals seek to give a proactive response to the challenges that the areas outside of the city centre are facing nowadays.
A general urban analysis of the urban environment was made to prioritize public realm strategies.
This new spine to central Malmö comprises a variety of spaces such as squares, streets, canals and green spaces.
The design proposals were focused for areas that required a more immediate intervention.
Triangeltorget, a key space with active frontages which holds many public events, is decluttered and the influence of the carriageway reduced.
Play activity carpets are located in strategic points along the route.
It offers not only opportunities for informal play but also spaces for seating and social interaction.
