Fractal — Dance Notation

––
Dance notation is the symbolic representation of the movement in a choreography, a coded language to transcribe the human body while dancing. The coexistence and diversity of non-universal notational systems, coupled with lack of knowledge and interest in this area, has created a problematic situation in the world of dance still present nowadays.

This project aims to analyze and create a new approach of dance notation through a general graphic system that allows to translate movements into signs based on geometry, simplicity and universality. Fractal Notation is explained by an editorial, a video and a series of photographs illustrating the movement and its various parameters.
Notation symbols related to 7 parameters of body movement.
Fractal notation applied to the pentagram (8 counts of the choreography).
Final Degree Project. ESDi, 2016.
