Human beings have desires. For food, most of us desire to eat delicacies. Sometimes when we watch the leisure TV program, its hosts introduce lots of fine food in a feast. They are not only showing how yummy the expensive food is, but also suggesting audiences to taste what they ate.

In fact, we are always looking for ways to make life better, but why we need to follow a trend to enjoy our lives in a luxurious way? Why couldn’t we eat food in a pleasant way with no strict table manners? Therefore, I would like to express this feeling through photos that eating can be fun too. As what Katja Gruijters, a food designer in the Netherlands said, “Food is emotion.” It affects our appetites and moods.

During shooting these photos, I consider the eating environment, food, costumes and materials are needed to match up with the theme: Playful picnic.

Besides, I would like to exercise editorial design by using this series of pictures. This editorial practice includes:

- The front (spine and rear) cover of a magazine
- Its content page
- 2 double-page spreads

I select IdN magazine to be the reference of my design. After researching, I also discover the characteristic of the layout design of IdN:

- Each issue has a theme and theme color
- Varied content by featuring artists and designers from all over the world
- Each issue distinct in look and feel from each of the previous issues
- Sometimes break the rules of grid system
- Creative and read-friendly
