Voices of Dadaab Documentary
Voices of Dadaab is a documentary about Abdi Phenomenal of Poet Nation's return to the Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya where he spent 5 years as a child. The film also shows recent newcomers from Somalia and those who have lived in Dadaab for twenty years and how they have made the best of their circumstances.
I produced, directed and filmed this project about Somali famine in 2011. The artist Abdi Phenomenal and myself traveled to the Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya in August, 2011 to capture the stories of refugees traveling from Somalia in search of food. We have shown this film on many occasions back in the U.S. in fundraising and other events.
