Checkerboard duvet cover

Handmade button closure.
The button was carved from the branch of a tree that had been trimmed in our city.
My dog enjoyed laying under it while I was piecing it together.
This my first experiment into making a quilt-like duvet cover. All of the fabric is velvet which made it extraordinarily heavy, but very soft to the touch. It is currently being used in Colorado where it is heavy enough to be used alone during fall, and then perfect to keep the bed warm when a comforter is put in it for the cold winter months.
