This catalogue was produced for the Fine Art students for the Cambridge School Of Art's 2015 Degree Show with an emphasis on elegant design and a punchy presence. Recycled stock for the cover, vibrant orange in-leaves, debossed titles, and a simple but effective layout structure helped to achieve the design product which the Fine Art students desired. The budget for this project was big enough to afford these lavish design elements into the design, and the catalogue is a much more refined product because of these elements.

The brief was to create a catalogue which show-cased all of the graduating Fine Art students work equally in an elegant but edgy manner. Right from the start of the project I wanted to blend traditional design with a bit of modern design to give the whole product some flair. I felt that this blend would bind well with their requests for the outcome to be elegant and punchy, ultimately the structure, typography and cover emanated "Traditional" with the modern flair restrained within the punchy orange in-leaves. 

It was an interesting brief to work on but rather straightforward, the initial challenge was to get the balance right between traditional and modern themes, but as the project progressed and photographs were delivered to be placed within the structure, another challenge cropped up: not all images were the same size, some were landscape and others were portrait. To facilitate this issue the structure was designed so for portrait images the page has 12mm sides and 6mm vertical margins, if the image was landscape the margins were inverted (12mm vertical margins and 6mm sides.)

The Target audience involved the students themselves as they would have this catalogue to keep as a memento of their study, but also gatekeepers and other artists. Target audience was an element which influenced the overall appearance of the catalogue, contacts and gatekeepers want something memorable of their visit but also want a design which reflects the artistic talent of that year.
