Imagine a four year old girl from India, growing up in a foreign country, with foreign kids and with a foreign education. Strange, right? Being able to talk, write and read in Japanese but not in the latter. Strange, right? It was initially extremely hard adapting to a new environment, people and culture. But now when I think of it, I feel extremely fortunate of experiencing a multicultural lifestyle from a very young age. As my parents remained close to their Indian roots, it helped me connect with my origins while being brought up in Japan. With everything I do, my cultural values and morals remain with me, whether they are Indian or Japanese. Which is why the idea of integrating two contrasting nations with its own rich history in culture struck to me for creating this collection. The collection encompasses the unique intricacy of both regions figuratively.
