The brief required me to explore the concept of coming out, and find a way to improve the lives of local LGBT youth. After a number of interviews with psychologists and people of the LGBT community, I concluded that it was more about the ability to live an open life that is crucial. This led to the concept of momentum; being visible as LGBT and living and interacting with different communities can sometimes be intimidating , yet once a person takes that step towards being open, they should keep moving in that new direction at a steady pace, hence ‘make steady progress’. My final solution is ‘Pragathi Inc.’

The company needed to emanate a sense of encouragement and support as well as showing itself as bold and dauntless. This was done through the branding and imagery used by the company. As it caters to a Sri Lankan demography, it was decided that the company should have a name and personality that can be appreciated locally.
As this is spread around the country, the company communicates with its existing and potential clients both online and offline. The website is available in all three languages and has information regarding the company and past projects, as well as links to its social media platforms, where people are encouraged to share and post things, hence creating awareness about LGBT issues as well as promoting Pragathi Inc.
There is also a series of print advertisements that use local references in imagery as well as a short explanation that debunks common homophobic arguments used by locals. The ads then go on to encourage LGBTs to contact them, in the premise that by educating society step by step, they can make life easier for themselves.
