This series of information graphics plays on the idea of different cultures “entwining” to create the Australia that we know today.  Using immigration data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the graphics show the shift in where people are coming from, and how many, over time. As the decades pass and Australia becomes more multicultural, the graphics become more vibrant and interesting, and more of the country as we know it is revealed.

The circles correlate with the locations the people are emigrating from. Each line represents .2 percent of the total population of Australia for that year.
The three dimentional prototype pictured below uses the latest immigration data (2006). The spherical shape not only represents the world, but also celebrates the unifying, entwining and “bonding” of these cultures to create the unique Australian culture.
