Devoid of any political context, what has emerged in the past five years is another form of entrapment dictated by the sweeping effect of the global recession.
These photos encapsulate the bleakness of a financially stricken society against the landscape of a fractured civility. But these themes are at times punctured by the emerging promise and light in the eyes of some of the portrait subjects. The result is a depiction of both what these young people have experienced and what they have yet to encounter, as they grow up in this fractious and fiscally challenged society.
