Oakville Galleries:
The Missing Novella
Prominent contemporary artist Derek Sullivan invited Underline Studio to create a catalogue to be an extension of and companion to his exhibition at Oakville Galleries. The exhibit, The Missing Novella, saw the gallery’s Gairloch estate transformed to resemble well-known fictional settings and arranged with installations of books, screens and furniture sculptures. Continuing the exhibition’s presentation of refracted, oblique narratives, the catalogue itself only feels and appears to be a book. Upon opening, the reader finds that it is in fact empty, with the essays and images only discovered when the book cover is unfolded.
