Srishti Suryavanshi's profile

Book Making | Self Portraiture | Night Photography

Always been intimidated by good actors on screen and on stage yet have been inspired even more ,by the same craft.
Always wanted to try my hands at night time photography. Perhaps, have had inhibitions to try any of these.

A fine day in college and another fine course on the "Ways of seeing" landed me with a final project where I took a chance to amalgamate all of my inhibitions mentioned above. Frankly, the project started with an idea of exploring the streets I live among. These streets had great character at night.

One night down in the project I felt the urge to twist the challenge at hand even more and make it mine. I figured I had a stage to myself and a camera witha tripod on my shoulder and noone to be afraid of. I gave myself acting prompts depending on the street's character I was shooting at, stopped a few people on the road. Swiitched roles with them, imitated some and captured some.
In dialogue with darkness is a night time excursion with lots of elements rolled into one reel of expression.

The photographs of actors and characters, whether people or streets are taken by me apart from a few shots of me where precision of expression was primaryand a tripod could not suffice.
Book Size: A5 Portrait.
