Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill

The Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill needed to improve the overall visitor experience of the historic village and to increase traffic to the 3000 acres of land around the village. Using the newly planted arboretum as a case-study, myself and 2 other designers put together a proposal for a new visitor experience, which would include pedestrian and vehicle signage, printed interpretive tools, and a new welcome center.

This student project taught me important skills, including collaboration, communication, time-management, and client presentation. Every week of the course, we made a presentation to either our classmates or the client.
The printed interpretive tool or guidebook would be made available in an abbreviated, one-color version. A full-length, full-color version would be available for purchace in the village gift shop.

Interior spreads feature information about where trees are located, how to identify them, and their uses in Shaker and modern life.
The pavilion at the parking entrance to the village was space that was not being utilized. We proposed creating a wall of panels along the back of the pavilion which would serve as a location for bulletins and information about all that the site had to offer.
