Sewing Belfast Poster

Our second task was Sewing Belfast Poster. We were asked to create a poster promoting a fashion show. I have chosen Belfast streets in general, because there was plenty of parades going through those streets and squares I believe it is a perfect location for a fashion show.
I have created a quick mind map, pointing to the main places people remember about Belfast:
Here's also some photographs I've made around Belfast, in the places I often visit and the things I liked:
This is a couple of photographs showing some amazing figures carved in the brick wall. I think this might be an interesting thing to combine with fashion show poster.
Here's a panorama photograph of Belfast during the day:
And here's a panorama photograph of Belfast during the night:
Here's some of the poster layout ideas, that would be great to promote a fashion show:
All of these posters have one thing in common - geometric shapes, covering the face or half of the face. Short and practical text with the information about - what, where and when - and beautiful colours. All of these layouts are a great inspiration for creating my own poster.
Here's a couple of screen-shots showing how I created the poster. First screenshot shows I selected the 'polygon tool' - I selected 3 sides and 'paths' to create a triangle.
My next slide shows that I've created a triangle and picked the piece of the photo I wanted. Then I selected the 'path selection tool' to move around the triangle and place it on the piece of the photo I wanted to chose.
Next slide shows I had to create a layer out of the background to save it as a GIF or PDF so that I could add it to my poster.
Later I've clicked on 'layer - vector mask - current path' to clear out the rest of the picture apart from the triangle I've drawn.
I've cropped the picture so that only the triangle is left on the page. Then I clicked on 'save for the Web'.
Then I saved it as a GIF so that it has transparent background, so that I could add it to my poster.
Here's the final page of my poster:
Critique:
- I like the effect of the triangle pictures but I don't like the effect of the text in the middle.
- The font is not fitting nicely as it should and the rotation of the text is a bit off as well.
- Overall, my Photoshop skills had developed a bit, so that I could use it more easily.
- Overall it's a nice poster but I would aim for a more professional look next time.
