Derived from the ISTD brief ‘A Life’s Work’, the aim was to create a publication celebrating the life of Adrian Frutiger. This publication was created to inform designers on the typographic principles Frutiger believed in. It explores the light and dark in letterforms, as well as the progression in weights and widths in his type families. The aim is for the user to understand the importance of white space in letterforms, and how Frutiger utilised the light and the dark in his type creations. The publication itself used restrictive French folds to conceal type, where the user has to use light to reveal the typographic secrets of Frutiger.

 

This Submission gained a Pass at assessment and Membership to ISTD.
