Gun Show

I designed a poster for a local event where I live. I live two hours away from a city, so there are not many events to choose from. The event is for a gun show and the genre of design that I choose is Op art. The Op art images tend to give the viewer a sense of movement with an optical illusion. When I choose to do the gun show poster, a bullseye first came to my mind. I thought it would be perfect because of the repetition of the red and white colors. I tried it on a
black background first. It needed more, so I decided to add in the repetition of the black and white strips in different directions behind the bullseye. This, in my opinion, gave the poster more depth and a little ore of the movement I was trying to capture. The image was still not standing out to me, so I decided to work with the layer styles. I worked with inner glow, outer glow, drop shadow, and stroke. With the combination of these the contrasting lines had more depth and movement.
At first I thought I would use an image of a gun, but then changed to bullet holes. The font I chose for the title was Tahoma Bold. I like the look of it because the letters are bold. I made them the largest size font I could choose, but it was still not large enough. I then decided to use the Free Transform to make the letters. With the rest of the type I used Times Bold. I wanted it to be easy to read and not as decorative. I believe this makes the title stand out more and gives the viewer the information they need easier.
On the second poster I used only red and white to make the target and left the black and wite strips off.  I decided to add the scope view as if you were looking through a gun.  Right in the middle I put a bullet hole.
