In just one short week, three of my classmates and I sought out to develop a service that aimed to help local musicians create a strong, devoted fan base. Wavelink is a multi-sided platform for upcoming artists to directly connect to their fans. Fans can search local musicians in their area based off genre. They can add events and concerts directly to their phone's calendar, rate and comment on an artist's performance, post videos and pictures, and live stream events so they never miss out. We knew Wavelink would be going up against big names like Facebook, Twitter, Bandcamp, and Soundcloud, and that we were quite simply a small fish in a huge sea of Sharks. When using Facebook and Twitter, we found that upcoming artists felt as if their voice became diminished by the other feed content that piled quickly on top of their posts. On Soundcloud they were pushed to the side by more popular artists with a bigger fan-base. Wavelink aims to create a voice for the upcoming musicians struggling to make it. Music lovers, rejoice!
