Isolated from the outside world via an undisclosed part of the forest of Massachusetts- there is an old grain storage house.
Our studio professor discovered this structure and decided to make a studio assignment out of it. The program is a house for an individual, however we were able to add to the program if we wish.
The original structure is composed of 4”x8”s on a four-walled foundation.
Because of the original use of the existing structure (holding in a resource and then disbursing it) I decided to design a temporary residency home. An individual has living space, space to produce and create work (Artwork, design work, composing music) and a bottom floor to curate a show, lecture, or performance.
The form is based on the concept of shifting. Light screens and open floor plan provide dynamic space opportunities.
