Children's Wear 2011
I constructed this children's wear collection while abroad in Rome Italy in 2011. For the illustration part of this project, we had to pick a designer, research his/her collections and pick one that we enjoyed. Still staying true to the designer, we were to design a 10 piece children's wear collection with our interpretation of the designer's aesthetic. I chose Diane von Furstenberg admiring the way that she mixes prints. I am very interested in print mixing and thought it would be a fun way to create a collection of children's wear. I also experimented with mixing different fabrics ranging from chunky knits to sheer chiffons.
From my illustrations, I constructed a garment with making minor adjustments. I created a lined romper with a bib of ruffles down the front. The jacket is made of white denim with white eyelet accents. This design is geared towards a girl ages 10-12 who likes bright colors, enjoys being a girly girl, and loves ruffles.
