Channel Branding Project - Syfy

The final project of Year 3 Semester 1 at LSAD, with the aim of choosing a television channel from a list of ten and rebranding it how ever we saw fit. We were recomended to research the process of branding extensively and apply that knowledge to our chosen channel. This involved the creation of a channel ident, a lower third super, a break bumper and a menu board.

All the elements were made using a combination of Illustrator and Cinema 4D, which were then combined and edited using After Effects and Premiere Pro.This was my first time using Cinema 4D for a project but I’m really enjoying its work flow with the Adobe suite. Here’s hoping it’ll become a regular in my box of digital tools.

I believe that I tackled the brief as best I could and that I achieved at communicating my chosen channel brand ethos of “coming together” to celebrate the science fiction genre. I think that the clean white metal style (which is strongly inspired by the Portal games by Valve) is quite suitable for communicating a welcoming atmosphere towards new viewers of science fiction films/shows while not alienating the old.
