Chaap : Block printing & indigo dyeing

An attempt to experiment with a combination of techniques that the craftsmen were using.
Black, white and indigo coming together on one surface,  creating a contemporary look.
Using dots, lines and geometrics with solid spaces in indigo and white, I have tried to create a fresh look which is modern and chic.

The solid indigo adds to the elegance, with black lines and dots on white background.
Blocks dipped in black printing paste in geometric patterns on the required areas were dyed in deep black on the contrasting base.
The printed parts in black on white base were then secured using plastic and then dipped in indigo bath. The parts which are not resisted with plastic get coloured in indigo.
The final result is a classic sari with black print on white and mixed with solid indigo parts.
