Process
1. I began by cutting paper in to 4 x 4” squares until I had three
2. Next, I took an old sweater, measured, and cut a 4 x 4” section of the fabric. Using PVA glue, I glued this to one of the paper squares.
3. I began the trompe l’oeil rendering by using an HB pencil to sketch the vertical thread pattern. Once happy with the results, I went over the outline in 0.1mm tip ink pen.
4. I repeated the process for the horizontal thread pattern, additionally shading using a 2B pencil.
5. For the abstract rendering, I used acrylic to paint light and dark green horizontal stripes and red threads running vertically down the paper.
6. Finally, I used a glue stick to glue the three squares onto 5 x 5" illustration boards. This is the final product.
