Instructional Scenario Video

I designed this video scenario as part of a larger training module that focuses on respecting diversity in the workplace. The scenario I wrote is focused on a fictional company that has experienced diversity and discrimination issues in the past, and management has made establishment of an inclusive, welcoming workplace a priority for the company. I wrote this particular video scenario to mirror a possible real-life situation that takes place during a weekly conference call.
My first step in developing the training module was to create a training analysis plan to identify the target audience, learning objectives, and instructional strategies. During this analysis, I recommended that two video scenarios related to diversity be created and implemented into the overall course. After completion of the training analysis document, I proceeded to develop and script two scenarios appropriate for the learning objectives and target audience.
One of the key elements of my scenario approach was the development of comprehensive feedback for the learners. The correct course of action in the types of situations I presented are not always clear, so I fashioned the scenarios to have "incorrect/better/best" responses for the learner to choose from. I believe comprehensive feedback of the type I presented here is essential for this type of approach, so both the scenario and the assessment quiz act as instructional objects.
After developing my scenario script and feedback, I storyboarded the video presentation, including a plan for setup of my subjects and lighting. My video uses still images that simulate the conference call presented in the video. The conference room, participants, and equipment that I used were only available for a limited amount of time, so it was essential that I came to the shoot with all aspects of my shoot planned ahead of time.
After capturing my photographs, I organized and created my movie using iMovie, and then exported that product into Garageband for final editing and mixing. I recorded voice over narration explaining the scenario, added an appropriate backing track, and then mixed the audio elements to produce professional audio narration. I exported and uploaded the final project to YouTube for hosting.
