Created as a wedding gift for friends, this desk was intended for two people to be able to use simultaneously. It features elements from an old front door as a design and conceptual choice.
The desktop is secured by metal tabs on the metal frame, which hold the top in place and allowing for wood movement by the lack of screws. This also helps to ease assembly.
The two free standing platforms on either end of the desktop are monitor risers to ensure that sound is delivered at head height while sitting.
A drawer with a flip-down face for a midi keyboard is undermounted on the left, and a drawer with a front door peephole detail is on the right.
Glass-paned details from the top of the old door were built into the tabletop.
The frame comes together easily with threaded inserts in the back stretcher tubes.
The wood used is Red Oak, and it has been ebonized with a vinegar/steel wood solution.
