The Seven Deady Sins

The seven deadly sins, also known as the capital vices or cardinal sins, is a classification of objectionable vices (part of Christian ethics) that have been used since early Christian times to educate and instruct Christians concerning fallen humanity's tendency to sin. The currently recognized version of the sins are usually given as wrath, greed, sloth, pride (vanity), lust, envy, and gluttony.

Wrath is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Anger.

Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

Vanity is the excessive belief in one's own abilities or attractiveness to others. In many religions vanity, in its modern sense, is considered a form of self-idolatry, in which one rejects God for the sake of one's own image, and thereby becomes divorced from the graces of God.
