Geometric Sculptures

Geometric sculptures recreated for Swain McCaughrin of MisAssembled. Her work can be found and purchased at https://misassembled.com/

All pieces were replicated to scale however the aesthetic was more important. It was acknowledged that when shrinking and replicating large complex pieces parts might have to be shifted or altered slightly to insure that it is structurally sound while abiding by printing tolerances and guidelines. Creative freedom and best judgement was allowed as long as the aesthetic and shape was kept.  All of the photos are hers.
Pyramid Cluster:
This was one of the first pieces we worked on together and spawned a collection. 2015–2018

The base form was an existing paper pyramid headpiece which was recreated to scale in Rhino and scaled to be part of a ring. Due to the positioning of the pyramids hollowing out the ring wasn’t possible.

Later on a skeletal, cage like, variation of the ring was created using the pyramid curves and T-Splines. Due to how the lines were piped it is a little larger than the solid ring. Later that was scaled for earrings. The ring was the first piece in the “Cage” sub collection.

Below is the original paper pyramid headpiece and the pieces derived from it with renderings and photos.
Geometric Pendant:

Gold cardboard triangles glued together replicated to scale in Rhino to become a pendant. There were many design and scale changes that required edges to be altered. Below is the original piece and the final pendant. 2015

This piece doesn’t have a Cage version due to requiring additional lines for support.
Polygon Earrings:

Wood earrings replicated to scale in Rhino. 2015
This model has a Cage version as well. 2018
A ring was derived from the earrings. 2018
