Brand identity for ATypI Hong Kong Typography Event

ATypI is the premier worldwide organisation dedicated to type and typography. Founded in 1957, ATypI provide structure for the communication, information and action amoungst the international type comunity. For the first time in their 56 years of history, ATypI were to hold their annual conference in Hong Kong, Asia's world city.

The conferences celebrate diversity and multilingualism. The aim is to foster a culture of international exchange and cross-cultural dialogue for all matters related to typography. They encourage proposals of case studies, theoretical discussions, workshops and panel discussions concerning typography and type design from historical, cultural, aesthetic, linguistic and technological perspectives.

ATypI required a visual identity to promote the theme of their event 'Between Black and White'. It was requested that new font should be developed to act as the core of the conference identity. I designed Noodle a font with incomplete letterforms to communicate the event theme. The logo is a combination of Chinese alphabet symbols that mean 'Black' and 'White'. I also created two video advertisements for event which you can watch here.
