Hemisphere Facade

HEMISPHERE FACADE

FACADE CONCEPT

The aim was to design a facade, which could be able to provide shading every day during a year and every hour in a day and at the same time offer view to exterior. Also the facade element should be closeable in the case of need for darkness inside. User of the builiding should have 3 options - 1. open, 2. close, 3. track sun-path (automatic system).

All different kinds of geometry can provide partial shade for interior. Hemisphere shading element was chosen because of it's ability to offer 100% shade every day and every hour without closing the shutter completely. In the case of non-sunny day, users can open all shields and have enough light in the interior.

This concept works also for eastern and western facades. For better functionality there is an option to enable rotation of the whole hemisphere (horizontal turning axis, perpendicular to the facade). The facade would become even more complex and technical solution even more complicated.

For the technical town hall, first the interior functions on the facade were analyzed, then the circles were placed (as big as possible) with a limit for the smallest circle trying to cover the whole surface.
