This is a design for a mead label. When I started working on this, every idea I had for a Mead label (anything with bees or from Norse mythology) was already used. Then I came across a folk tale about a honey bee carrying a mantis across a river and I thought a mantis might be a nice idea. This is a spiny flower mantis, I thought the coloring would look nice with the color of the bottle and the honey wine. Watercolor, finished in Photoshop
