“Impenetrable" 2015

Mother of pearl, Fine Silver, Brass

For this piece I studied and manipulated mother of pearl as a material, exploring its qualities and tendencies. Symbolically it is associated with protection: it is also quite delicate when manipulated by man & was my jumping off point my “subtle armor” pieces. The power of their protection lies in the mind of the wearer. This piece is knitted with fine silver and brass wire and filled with shards of mother of pearl at the points.
