These forms were cut from and inspired by the naturallypatinated copper roof of the architecturally historic Unitarian Meeting Housein Madison, Wisconsin.

In approximately 1999 a portion of this architecturalmasterpiece was being re-roofed, thecopper sheets being trucked off for scrap. I was able to purchase largequantities of this material to create sculptural works as well as a limitededition line of jewlery.
In addition to the natural beauty of the patinated copper, the material itself is historically and culturally significant. The copperforms are wrapped in sterling silver, many designs adorned with freshwaterpearls.

A portion of all proceeds is donated to help house thehomeless and foster hope for the future. In this act of giving we partake in akind of social poetry whereby the removal and transformation of one roof servesto place a roof over the heads of people in need.

I believe it is in this spirit of embracing both beauty andresponsibility that an artist’s work has the power to not only adorn anddelight, but to be a catalyst for positive change in the world.

At least that is my hope.
