Empathy FX International is a cross-cultural partnership that strives to alleviate global poverty by creating easy access to high quality education. We seek to broaden the perspectives of students in Ghana and America, raise awareness of global education issues, build schools in Ghana, and raise funds to support our schools.
While serving as the Design Lead for Empathy FX International, I designed this t-shirt with the goal of increasing awareness in local high schools. I wanted this shirt to be whimsical and wearable while communicating Empathy's ideals and mission: to help combat poverty by providing quality education to Ghanaian children.
To accomplish this kid-friendly feel, I used toned-down, pastel versions of Ghana's colors (red, yellow, green, black) and a rounded sans serif. Some fun details I threw in include common greetings in English and Twi (one of the main languages in Ghana besides English), geotags at California and Ghana (EFX's headquarters), and a calculator spelling out "hello" upside down. :-)
