SECTION MARKER EXPERIMENTATION

Experimenting with section markers, lines and tails and how they can be overlayed onto design photographs.
The contrast in the line widths, and crossing lines is quite beautiful and delicate.
The section marker is a common architectural symbol and a perfect representation of how interior and architecture are interconnected.
CREATING AN IDENTITY

This graphic will become the most recognizable part of the magazine,
therefore it was important to ensure that it captured the essence of the whole concept.
This shows how the word section has evolved into an identity utelising the section marker.
COVER PAGE EXPERIMENTATION

This shows how the 'SECTION' graphic can be integrated into a cover page.
Since it is a monochromatic graphic, can be easily applied to future issues, creating consistency throughout an entire collection.
The vertical section line is aligned with the centre of the page, whereas the word section fits into two thirds.
HEADER EXPERIMENTATION

Here you can see how we have integrated the graphic style of the section marker, into the header
Because this is a simple graphic made only out of varying line widths, it will reference the concept without detracting from the content matter on the page,
I think I like the 3rd one the most :)
FOOTER EXPERIMENTATION

This was designed to blend with the header, without cluttering up the page.
I'm so glad InDesign applies page numbers automatically...god bless the master page (don't worry illustrator, I still worship you)
I think I like the first one :)
TEXT ACCOMPANYMENTS

Although minimalism and ‘white space’ generally mean minimal accompanying graphics,
in order to make the text seem substatial and part of the information hierarchy, it needs some kind of stage.
These graphics fit with the established graphic language and scheme.
I like the top two because the others will clash with the headers and look really confusing (where do i look?)
