A few screenshots of my final diploma project. I created a comic book, maps and a visual diary based on my journeys on the public bus (BMTC) in Bangalore. When I started taking the bus, I found it quite hard as I did not know which bus to take and where to get on/off. I have tried to solve this problem by creating pockets maps for different bus routes and each one has a different story at the back. I also created a visual diary and included some of the quirky advantages of taking the bus! I used three different mediums for each, color pencil, watercolor and brush pen. The color pencil version has been digitally enhanced to create softer tones and this was printed behind the route maps. The comic book (created with a brush pen) has been printed on brown paper. I also designed my documentation book for my process and iterations. While designing the book, I had to make layout and typeface desicions and create illustrations for the separate sections in the book. The stories are based on my observations on the bus as well as some experiences that little children encountered when they traveled daily to school on the public bus. I hope to share these stories with people who pick up these maps, thus serving multiple purposes of navigation and a little information/entertainment.
