What I love most about nature photography is that I don't have to be concerned about poses, airbrushing someone's skin or whitening their teeth. However, I do still edit my nature photos, and this is one of my favorite before and afters. It's a simple photo of a beautiful tree at Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home in Virginia. My technique for most nature shots involves a lot of sharpening and warming, among other things. I really loved the grandiose scale of the tree, its tangled branches, beautiful backdrop and lighting. I think my editing process brought a dramatic, almost sinister feel to the photo.
