Amargo Gourmet Cooking Chocolate Box Set
This product is a gourmet box set that introduces spiced dark chocolate for cooking. Its brand name “Amargo” refers to the history of chocolate as a Mayan creation brought to the Western world by the Spanish. The word “Amargo” is Spanish for “dark” in terms of chocolate. The logo references and mimics a Mayan glyph; the Mayan glyph for chocolate (or “Kakau”) is also used as a secondary mark.
The set, housed in a rich-red stained wooden box, includes a Chocolate cookbook, a glossary of unfamiliar terms for the budding chocolate gourmet, 4 tins of spiced chocolate (plain dark, Jasmine, chili, rosemary), a small whisk and a grater.
I did the illustrations on each tin in primitive graphic style to match the logo. Circular nformation cards with a pattern made of each illustration were placed at the bottom of each tin of chocolate.
