Forward thinking director Chris Milk, known for his amazingly creative work; came to us to execute his latest vision. He showed us sketches of an idea for a large triptic involving a viewer’s shadow interacting with shadows of realistic birds.
For the experience at the opening of The Creators Project in San Francisco, we created three 25 foot installations that spanned the entire width of a huge hanger.
We then fabricated an immense reflecting pool to act as an seamless barrier between the visitors and the screens, maintaining optimal distance conditions for the hidden Kinect sensors.
We leveraged Microsoft's Kinect for it's robust skeleton tracking and Unity3D for it's flexible world building and interaction tools to create an experience allowing visitors to interact freely with the installation.
