Light Fixture Design Project

For this project, we started out being assigned to make 9 3"x3" cubes (3 of foam, 3 of bristol paper, and 3 of a chosen material), having no idea what the final project was. We were each assigned a word to respresent in our cubes and models throughout the process, and mine was "harmony". For the next set of models, we had to create "light cubes" that interacted with light and shadows in some way and still represent our given word. We had to do a few more sets of cube models, until we were informed of the final project, which was a light fixture. At this point, we made models that still represented our word but broke outside the confines of a cube and started to represent a light fixture. In my later models, I chose to resent harmony by creating light fixtures with slits at the bottom that create harmony with the surface its on by the shadows the light produces. My final light fixture is not intended to be the main light source of the room, but instead something that adds comfort to the atmosphere and the ambiance of the room or setting.
