Design for selected space
Space : NID GN campus Reception area
In this design project I took corrugated paper as my material, which is generally known as fiberboard.
Initially Seating was one of the problem areas when I started brainstorming about the requirement of the space. To create the whole ambience with same material, I thought of using the waste material and textile techniques to develop surfaces out of it for the space.
In exploration stage I found lots of opportunities in corrugated sheet which we see everywhere as waste.
To make the corrugated paper strong enough for seating I simply stick around 100 3ply sheets together with fevicol.
Before weaving the cushions, in wood workshop.
Here I drilled the solid paper cube to make holes for nails to loop thread in it. And I have inserted metal rivets for the better finishing.
Gave slight curve for more comfort while seating with woven detachable cushioning.
Can take maximum weight of human body.
