To create a textured look, I opened a background with texture, changed the opacity and then on top of that, brought in a picture of my pug. I added a grainy look to the pug face-speckled. Also, I changed the blend mode to multiply so it blends in with the background. I then adjusted the hue/saturation. After that, I used the gradient tool to darkened the area around the pug face. The levels dialogue box allowed me to adjust the darkness some more. I added text and lowered the opacity and again used the gradient tool to add specks on the right hand side.
