Grad School Short Films

"Stories by the Roast" is a short student film that I directed, edited, and filmed with my close film classmates. A one-on-one interview with Cavit Ozturk, owner of Cafe Divan of Georgetown. Mr. Ozturk talks about his life and how he came to live in the states, and what it's like to be a chief and owner of a successful restaurant. Footage compasses shots of the wonderful restaurant, talks about Turkish cuisine, and how to make Turkish coffee. I wanted to keep the interview setting very warm and friendly, reminiscent of Mr. Ozturk's bright and warm personality.
A series of PSAs I worked on with my film group to create for the DC Public Library system. It encourages more reading and passing the action along to others. The series includes a 60 second, 30 second, and 15 second commercials.
The second series of PSAs I worked on with my film group to create for the DC Public Library system. It encourages more reading, and that batteries are not necessary to do so. The series includes a 60 second, 30 second, and 15 second commercials.
A short film I had to create for my Film and Video Production I graduate course. This video is a short autobiography mash up that contains footage that I shot and various forms media I found online. We had to edit the film in a way that would convey our personality and character through the footage.
A grad student short film shot and edited using the film technique of continuity. The story plot is of two characters playing a high stakes game of chess. Who will win in the ultimate game of all or nothing?
My Film boot camp group project at American University for our own 48 hour film fest. The genre that we received was film noir, that had to include a rock and roll star, slow motion and extreme low angle close up with a zoom out as the shot requirements. And the prop that we were given were breath mints. Full video and audio edited by me in Final Cut Pro X.
A short Lumiére film project I had to shoot from my film & video production class in graduate school. Shot on American University's Washington D.C. campus.
A soundscape project we had to create for our film & video production class where we had to explore a space and its story, and then create a sense of that audio landscape through our observations. My group and I recorded all of the sounds present in the track, and I edited the sounds together. There is a total of eight different sounds present in this multi-layered sound track. Can you guess what sound each layer is made up of?
