I've recently started a new part time job while I finish School. I am now a care taker for many dogs a doggy daycare centre in Vernon BC. The best part of this job is that I have the opportunity to photography hundreds of different dogs of varying breeds and personalities. Photographing dogs is something that really appeals to me. It's terribly fun, and I actually enjoy editing. After photographing a wedding this past summer (I'll share some photos later) I found that editng shots of people is exhausiting. Not that it isn't satisfying and what not, but  I feel like there's more pressure and everything has to be beyond perfect, which is rather intimidating. Dogs don't care what they look like, you know?

That being said, I'm making it  my project to photograph as many dogs as I can. If you know anyone who is in the Okanagan or Edmonton areas and interested in having their dogs photographs for a small fee, shoot me an email!
This first dog is my very own. Charles, a 5 year old Rough Collie cross. I will try not to let my bias for him influence which photos I upload.  He is however, the source of a lot of my inspiration.
We were at the river in memory of my late grandfather. As we arrived at his property at Mabel Lake on Shuswap River there was a bear at the little farm house. We ventured further onto the farm toward the river and as we stepped onto the rocky shore, Charles took off barking as something big ran through the tall grass away from us (I assume, another black bear). After, as we gathered our river rocks and lunch garbage to go home, I noticed that Cha was staring intently across the river. I'd thought I had heard something over there earlier but thought nothing of it. Then Charles started to let out a very low growl, almost to low to hear. But nothing ever came of it, we walked back to the truck and went home. I just thought that the way he looked and how intent he was on keeping watch was admirable and adorable.
This adorable and photogenic pup is Scooby. Scooby often spends time at Wiggle Waggle pet hotel with us and is a really fun dog, this dog was SO fun to shoot, I just couldn't get enough of him, It really took a lot of self control to not upload every picture of him.
This is Ziggy the drooling Vizsla. I think I can't help it, but this dog is cool, (maybe I need to accept that most dogs are?).
This is Cooper. Cooper is a big furry goof with a heart of gold. He's always in the way and I love him for it. Look at that face though, what a lovely boy.
Nesta. I'm not exactly sure of her breed, though obviously there is a great deal of SharPei. My best guess is Chow/Shar Pei. But Nesta is a very friendly dog, lovable and agreeable and also photogenic.
Tony the retired racing Greyhound. I have a slight obsession with sighthounds so I knew the second I saw him that I'd love him. I couldn't get enough of this dog and honestly, only selecting this photo to upload was almost heartbreaking.
Gatsby, the 9 month old Great Dane. What a fun dog.  He is everyone's best friend, and a good one. He can also curl himself into a surprisingly small ball...it is amazing.
Mosely the Westie.I have yet to witness it for myself, but according to his owner, he surfs while at the beach... at least as well as a dog CAN surf. But I think it's fair to say that this lil dude is genuinly COOL.
Jayce, a very portly and loveable Airedale Terrier. He comes to the daycare with his "sister" Jensen, they are pretty much inseperable.
Pretty lil Nesta again!
