These patterns where both created while working at JHill Design, each pattern was inspired by a different location, and became a part of a collection called "Places I Have Never Been".
The striped triangular patten was based off the beaches of Provincetown Rhode Island, the cool blues are supposed to mimic the water while the calm tan resembles the sand of the beaches. The triangular patterns create a more abstract look and resemble the many flags on the beaches of that area.
While the second pattern was based on Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The flowers are an abstracted version of the areas well known azaleas each falling into a grid like format, making an a lattice like form, while geometric forms make up the rest of the background.
